조대경은 한국에서 태어나 자랐고, 홍익대학교에서 건축 학부를 마치고, 건축가가 되고자 하는 꿈을 품고 미국으로 유학하여 하버드 건축 디자인 대학원에서 석사과정을 마쳤다. 대학원 졸업후 뉴욕으로 이주하여 지난 14년간 Ennead Architects, Toshiko Mori Architects, SOM, Rogers Marvel Architects, 그리고 Herzog & de Meuron 같은 세계적으로 인정받는 건축회사에서 오피스, 상가, 주택, 박물관, 학생회관, 대학교 연구동 등 다양한 건축작업을 통해서 건축 실무를 쌓았고, 2018년 조대경 건축 연구소를 개소했다. 공간이 갖고 있는 무안한 가능성을 찾기위해 의뢰인, 컨설턴트, 공사팀과 함께 협업하고 있다. 조대경은 뉴욕, 뉴저지, 메릴랜드 건축사 자격증을 갖고 있으며 AIA 멤버이다.
Born and raised in Seoul, Korea, Daekyung came all the way to America with a dream to become an architect. After studying architecture at Hong-Ik University and Harvard University, Daekyung worked on various types of projects that include commercial, residential, cultural, and institutional projects while working at Ennead Architects, Toshiko Mori Architects, SOM, Rogers Marvel Architects, and Herzog & de Meuron prior to founding Jo Architecture. Daekyung is a registered architect in NY, NJ, and MD and a member of the American Institute of Architects. |
