뉴욕 차이나타운은 세계의 차이나타운 중에서도 가장 크게 발전한 곳 중 하나입니다. Canal st.(커넬스트릿)를 따라 그 주변지역을 통틀어 차이나타운이라고 부릅니다. 커넬스트릿역에 내려서 Lafayette st쪽으로 걸어올라가시면 금새 차이나타운 중심을 만나보실수 있습니다. 리틀 이탈리아(Little Italy)도 함께 붙어있는데 이곳에는 현재 그렇게 많은 이탈리아인들이 거주하고 있지는 않지만 여전히 고유의 델리와 베이커리, 이탈리안 레스토랑을 만나보실 수 있습니다. 차이나타운의 가게 및 노점상들은 7시 정도면 슬슬 접기 시작하니 북적북적한 노점상을 구경하시려면 너무 늦지 않은 시간에 가셔야 합니다. 레스토랑들은 좀 더 늦게까지 엽니다. 참고로 카드를 받지 않는 곳이 많으니 현금을 꼭 챙겨가셔야 합니다.
